We would like to inform you below about the processing of your personal data in connection with the use of this website and participation in the STAEDTLER Back to School Prize Code Competition 2025.


Data Controller

The data controller within the meaning of data protection law is STAEDTLER SE, Moosäckerstraße 3, 90427 Nuremberg, Germany (hereinafter referred to as “we” or “us”). Further details about our company and the persons authorised to represent it can be found in our legal notice.


What Data is Processed?

Legal Basis for Data Processing

To be able to offer you our website and related services, we process personal data on the basis of the following legal grounds:

  • for the performance of contracts (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR)
  • based on a balancing of interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)
  • for compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR)

We will refer to these legal bases in relation to the relevant processing activity so that you can understand on what grounds we are processing your personal data. If we process data based on a balancing of interests, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data under Article 21 GDPR.


Data Processing When Visiting Our Website

Access Data

When you visit our website, personal data is processed to display the website content on your device. In order for the pages to be displayed in your browser, the IP address of your device must be processed, among other technical data. This also includes further information about your device’s browser.

We are legally obliged to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of personal data processed via our IT systems.

For this reason, and based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website, the following data is processed:

  • IP address of the requesting device (stored for a maximum of 7 days)
  • Operating system of the requesting device
  • Browser version of the requesting device
  • Name of the accessed file
  • Date and time of access
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Referring URL

Your IP address will be deleted after no more than 7 days.
All other aforementioned data will only be stored for as long as necessary to ensure the secure and proper functioning of the website. After this period, it is no longer possible for us to link the data back to an individual. These data are also used to detect and correct any errors on the website.


Data Processing When Using the Contact Form

If you send us an enquiry via the contact form, the information you provide in the form, including the contact details you enter, will be stored by us in order to respond to your enquiry and in case of any follow-up questions.


Data Processing for Registration and Prize Draw Participation

We also store the data you provide during registration (first and last name, address, email address) as well as any additional information submitted as part of prize claim verification (telephone number, address, bank details).

Additionally, the data from your uploaded proof of purchase (date of purchase, purchased products, amount spent, store location) will be stored. The purpose of storing this data is to carry out the prize draw, i.e. to verify eligibility, determine the winners, and if applicable, send out the prizes. The legal basis for this data processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

The data you enter in the registration form, during prize claim declaration, and with the upload of your receipt will be stored until you request its deletion or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (3 months after the promotion ends). Legal retention requirements remain unaffected.


Cookies

Our website uses cookies – small text files that are stored on your device via your browser. These cookies are necessary to enable certain functions of our website.

We use session cookies only, which are automatically deleted when you leave the website. These cookies are required under § 25(2) of the German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act (TDDDG) for the proper execution of the promotion (login and receipt upload).If personal data is processed via cookies, this is done either for the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or to safeguard our legitimate interest in providing a functional and user-friendly website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your data will not be shared with third parties as a general rule. However, the data will be processed by a service provider whom we have commissioned as a data processor under Article 28 GDPR to manage and handle the prize draw.

We also use service providers for the operation of our website and other services, who may have access to personal data. These providers are carefully selected and contractually obligated to comply with data protection regulations. This includes, for example, our email service provider and web hosting provider.

Deletion of Data

Your personal data will be deleted three months after the conclusion of the prize draw, unless the data is needed for legal claims (asserted or potential) as evidence, or if legal obligations require a longer retention period.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection regulations, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
